Rare pair of oversized 'Torche' wall lamps designed by the prominent Dutch furniture and interior architect Rob Eckhardt for Eckhardt and Leeuwenstein during the 1980s. These sculptural and theatrical wall fixtures are handmade and offer a playful nod to traditional 18th-century French torchieres, reinterpreted with a late-20th-century industrial aesthetic. The lamps feature a slender steel tubular frame that holds a distinctive shade constructed from tightly woven steel mesh, intentionally manipulated to mimic the soft and fluid folds of draped curtains. The semi-transparent mesh provides a beautifully diffused and atmospheric glow when illuminated. Both remain in very good condition. The woven steel wire shades retain their original shape without structural damages, tears or missing segments. The metal frameworks show minimal surface patina and light wear appropriate for their age. Both lamps are fully functional and in working order. We take full responsibility regarding the authenticity of these lamps.
