Overview. Small demi-lune console table in cherry wood, characteristic of the Biedermeier period. Circa 1820, South Germany. Design. Semicircular (half-moon) top designed to sit against a wall. One narrow central drawer with a visible keyhole/escutcheon. Four slender, tapered round legs providing an elegant, restrained profile. Materials. Cherry veneer on the apron with solid cherry used for the top and legs. Warm reddish-brown cherry tone and subtle wood grain. Dimensions. W 57.5 cm X D 28 cm X H 76 cm. Provenance. Biedermeier style, originating from South Germany around 1820. Use. Perfect as an entryway or hallway console, or as a pared-back decorative surface against a wall.
