Serpente Martinelli floor lamp from the 1970s in white – an iconic design within the Space Age tradition, featuring a rotating arm and a smooth, snake-like shape. Its fusion of form and function makes it a celebrated example of Italian design from that era. Originally designed in 1965, this version was produced in the 1970s. The curved white metal arm and semi-spherical shade in white methacrylate give the lamp its futuristic appearance. The name “Serpente” refers to the coiling shape, inspired by the movement of a snake. Thanks to its swivelling construction, the lamp can be positioned in multiple ways – from upright to gracefully curved – creating a variety of snake-like postures. Dimensions: 75–130 × 55 × 120 cm / 29.5–51.2 × 21.7 × 47.2 in (W×D×H). Light bulb E27, suitable for LED or max. 60W halogen. Source: 1000 Lights, Taschen, p. 87 and Martinelli Luce catalogue. Marked: Martinelli Luce. The condition of this floor lamp is very good. The arm rotates smoothly, the methacrylate remains clear, and the piece shows minimal signs of wear consistent with age.
