Qashgai tribal oriental rugs from iran: 2.96 X 2.07 meters - period: early 20th century - made of wool and animal hair, good general condition - qashqai rugs are knotted by the nomadic kashkai (or ghashghai) tribes in the high mountains of southwest iran. Formerly nomadic, these shepherds and weavers are now semi-nomadic, having lived in the provinces of fars, khuzestan and isfahan in the south.
