6 pieces are available. All are in excellent condition. 24cm (9.45'') maximum diameter, 2.5cm (0.98'') thick and weighs 615g (21.70oz). Very nice vintage french majolica oyster and seafood serving plates made by the faiencerie de digoin & sarreguemines (stamped mark used 1920 - 1950). These have been stored in my attic for several decades! Majolica was first introduced by the minton factory at the great exhibition of 1851. The popularity of majolica quickly led to its manufacture by many manufacturers in england and later in the 19th century by continental and transatlantic manufacturers. Majolica, with its bright colours and exuberant modelling, reflects the interest of the time in historical and exotic subjects, the natural world, new foods and popular culture.
