Duo of two magnificent ceramic oyster plates slip stamped orchie. Majolica collection model. Plates made in france around 1910 with six oyster wells. Oyster plates with turquoise blue enamel, hand painted. Condition: one of the plates is in excellent condition, the second has a slight crack that does not detract from the charm (rely on the photos). Dimensions: 25 cm in diameter. In 1886, the faïencerie d'orchies was created by the two brothers joseph and emile l'herminé declercq. Emile was already the owner of the faïencerie rimbaud in belgium, wanting to diversify and increase its production. Orchies slip pitchers were made in the late 19th and early 20th century. In ceramics and pottery, slip is clay paste diluted in water. The decoration with the slip consists of adding reliefs in slip on a pottery, and we call "slips" the pottery thus decorated. The slurry decoration is a relief applied freehand on the pottery by pouring thick slip.
