A beautiful sideboard, called ‘Modena’, designed by Belgian designer Frans Defour for Defour in the 1970s. It has a bold, architectural presence yet maintains a surprisingly serene look. The solid oak frame gives it a sturdy appearance, while the oak veneer door panels add a more decorative element. Especially beautiful is the graphic pattern across the front. The different directions of the wood create a subtle play of lines and give the sideboard its distinctive character. There is something quite Brutalist about the piece, particularly in its solid proportions and strong geometry. Yet the warm oak and simple construction soften the overall appearance. It is easy to combine with both modern and more traditional interiors. A magnificent example of 1970s Belgian design, currently in excellent condition. Please note that one drawer is missing, though this does not affect functionality in any way.
