Bas van Pelt Armchair – Netherlands, 1936 Rare armchair designed by Bas van Pelt (1900–1945) in 1936, during the Art Deco period. Curved oak structure, with a seat and backrest made of woven cord. A piece with simple and modern lines, characteristic of Dutch design in the 1930s. Bas van Pelt was an early adopter of cord and natural materials in his creations, foreshadowing the aesthetic later developed by Audoux & Minet. A copy of this model is preserved in the collection of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
