Beautiful set of 6 dining chairs by Guillerme and Chambron in oak. Guillerme and Chambron were a celebrated duo of French designers — Robert Guillerme and Jacques Chambron — whose work became emblematic in the mid-20th century. Before becoming known for their furniture, their story had a fascinating beginning. Their furniture company, Votre Maison, was established in the aftermath of World War II, and the factory they used had actually been previously involved in weapon manufacturing. This story is a poignant reflection of post-war Europe, where industries were repurposed to rebuild and focus on creations in peacetime. Guillerme and Chambron met during the war and joined forces in the late 1940s. Their shared vision emphasized craftsmanship, functionality, and innovative design. They primarily worked with French oak, chosen for its durability and beauty, and collaborated with master cabinetmaker Émile Dariosecq, whose expertise brought their concepts to life. Their furniture is recognized for its bold shapes, complex wood joinery, and attention to comfort and usability. The duo's creations, often playful yet sophisticated, were distinguished by unique details such as sculpted backs, angled legs, and textured surfaces. The upholstery choices, such as woven fabrics, leather, or natural materials like rattan, beautifully complemented their woodwork. Their work also included iconic chairs, tables, and storage furniture, all characterized by a harmonious blend of sturdiness and elegance. This set of chairs perfectly reflects their philosophy: combining strength and sensuality, functionality and art. These chairs are not only rare but also a testament to Guillerme and Chambron's commitment to exceptional design and their ability to transform a utilitarian factory into a workshop of modern masterpieces. Their pieces remain highly sought after and represent an excellent investment. The set should still be reupholstered (as you can see), but entirely according to your wishes. Custom-made. We work with the best upholsterers and seat weavers, so feel free to contact us with your preferences. It won't cost a fortune as it only involves the seating part. Personally, I think we should try to use bamboo/rattan and make a thin red cushion to balance with the light wood, but a very light Pierre Frey wool with some padding underneath would also work very well. There are many options, so just send us a message! Dimensions Width: 46 cm Height: 83 cm
