Set of 6 Niels Otto Møller wooden chairs, Denmark, 1960s.

Set of 6 Niels Otto Møller wooden chairs, Denmark, 1960s. This set of six dining chairs model 78 by Niels Otto Møller has just been restored, and the result is stunning. The wood has been carefully sanded and treated with two coats of Osmo oil, which brings a deep and warm glow and subtly yet strikingly highlights the grain. The finish is soft to the touch, almost satin-like, and the overall impression is one of understated luxury. Møller's design is based on balance — between elegance and sturdiness, between comfort and line. The backrest gently curves to follow the spine, and the armless structure maintains a clean and open silhouette. The joints are impeccable, with soft sculptural connections where the back legs meet the seat, and the front legs taper to fine and precise ends. The shape of the top part evokes horns, and from certain angles, the chairs almost appear as figures — light, poised, and slightly animated. One chair is already woven with Danish paper cord and can be used as is. The other five have been left open so that the buyer can choose the finish — either the original Danish cord or black leather for a more structured look. We can, of course, handle the reupholstering. The six chairs are marked under the seat. They date from the 1960s and are made from dense, dark wood, rich in color and featuring beautiful natural variations. We also have two matching armchairs available if someone wishes to create a set of eight. Møller chairs are often described as classics, but this particular model — model 78 — seems particularly refined. Light yet stable, simple but with just enough detail to catch the eye. These are chairs that fit into many interiors and carry their age with elegance. Dimensions. Width: 49 cm. Height: 80 cm.
