Decorative pitcher with thistle by Etienne Daniel, Vallauris

Charming jug with a decoration featuring a thistle that leaves no doubt: it is a ceramic piece by Etienne Daniel, the specialist in thistle decorations in Vallauris during the 1960s and 70s. This is confirmed on the reverse, with the mention "handmade, " which was one of the ways this ceramist signed some of his pieces. Its elegant shape, also practical as it is well-opened for easy cleaning, makes it perfect as a water jug on a lovely vintage-style table, to hold a bouquet of dried flowers in a rustic decoration, or simply to complete a collection of ceramics. It is in very good condition, with no cracks, chips, or even a nick, just the patina of time with superficial crazing of the glaze at the bottom of the jug. It measures 15.5 cm in height, 9.5 cm in diameter, and 14.5 cm in maximum width from the handle to the spout.
