This set of five caned chairs made of solid oak, dating from the Louis-Philippe period, embodies discreet elegance and the rigour of traditional craftsmanship. Each chair captivates with its concave backrest, shaped like a basket handle, subtly carved and adorned with scrolls that evoke the softness of 19th-century lines. The legs, also intricately worked, are connected by a central rail that structures the whole with balance. The seat, encircled and made of diamond-patterned caning, rests on an ornate base: the front legs, turned in a spindle shape and partially fluted, converse with the elegantly curved back legs that flare outward. Each chair is reinforced by a precisely turned "H" stretcher, ensuring stability and strength without compromising the visual lightness of the ensemble. This harmonious series will appeal to lovers of antique furniture due to the quality of its execution, the nobility of its materials, and the sobriety of its style. It will find its place in both a classic dining room and a contemporary interior seeking authenticity. Period: 2nd Half of the 19th Century. Excellent condition after restoration in our cabinetmaking workshop. Finish is solely waxed.
