Murano vase designed by Flavio Poli from the 1950s is one of the most distinctive works of Italian art glass from the mid-century modern period. Made using the sophisticated sommerso technique, it combines a geometric, columnar form with sharp edges and a square opening. Layers of transparent glass enclose a deep red core, which smoothly transitions into an amber layer, all encased in an outer, crystal-clear shell with a high gloss. Set on a massive, transparent base, the vase demonstrates precision finishing, mirror-like smoothness, and a model play of light and colour saturation, typical of Poli's masterful works. The object's proportions reflect the spirit of minimalism and form discipline of the 1950s, and the lack of any signs of wear or intervention allows it to be described as being in perfect, collector's condition. All elements are original and authentic. With its clear silhouette and illuminated layers, this vase evokes the impression of post-war optimism and Venetian glass mastery. The depth of red under the glass resembles a glowing drop inside the pane, which time and light seem to hold in eternal tension. The vase seems to tell its story: 'I was created from the smoky, shiny currents of the Murano lagoon, to combine the discipline of modernism with the courage of colour in one form.
