Ceramic dish from Gien Renaissance blue background D22 cm

Very beautiful hollow bowl with eight lobes in art pottery from Gien, emblematic collection "Renaissance Fond Bleu". The contrast is striking between the deep cobalt blue and the hand-painted decorations with enamels: a flowering cornucopia in the centre, framed by a twisted golden frieze and eight fantastic winged birds/cherubs spread around the scalloped edge. Perfect as a centrepiece, generous catch-all, or decorative plate to hang. Manufacturer: Faïencerie de Gien (stamp from the château from the 1960s-1970s and painter's signature on the reverse) Dimensions: Diameter 22 cm • Height 4 cm.
