Compote dish on pedestal / vintage fruit bowl on foot from the Longwy pottery. A blue floral decoration on a white background (faded over time). It is stamped: Longwy. The Longwy pottery was founded in 1798 by the Boch family in Longwy, Meurthe-et-Moselle, in an old convent. Its reputation grew after the visit of Emperor Napoleon I, who commissioned tableware for the educational institutions of the Legion of Honor. After several successors, Amédée de Carenza became the owner of the pottery. After a visit to factories in Japan, director Amédée de Carenza brought his ideas, inspired by the enamels found in China and Japan, leading to the creation of the first Longwy enamels, which became very popular. This bowl will be perfect for presenting your pastries, fruits, cakes, or simply as a decorative touch to your table. It is also an excellent gift for lovers of beautiful vintage objects. Sold as is with visible marks in the photos. Dimensions: D 26.5 X H 15 cm.
