Swivel-arm perforated brass wall lamp by hans-agne jakobsson for markaryd, sweden, 1960s this exceptional wall lamp was designed by hans-agne jakobsson and produced by his company, hans-agne jakobsson ab markaryd, in sweden during the 1960s. The design beautifully combines a long, sculptural wooden arm with a suspended bell-shaped brass shade, perfectly reflecting jakobsson’s distinctive approach to atmospheric scandinavian lighting. The brass shade features numerous small perforations, a decorative row of star-shaped cut-outs and an elegant scalloped lower edge. When illuminated, these openings create a warm and enchanting pattern of light. The long curved arm can swivel from side to side, allowing the position of the shade to be adjusted while also giving the lamp its striking, almost architectural silhouette. The brass has developed a beautiful and characterful patina, with age-related traces of use consistent with its age and history. The warm tones of the brass and wood complement each other perfectly. A rare and highly decorative example of swedish mid-century lighting.
