Rare gilded wooden bedroom mirror, (sometimes called "bridal mirror"). The pediment is decorated with a large rockery centered with a basket, the inner borders of the central mirror are finely carved with friezes of pearls and diamonds. The mercury ice cream is of origin is magnified in the lower part by a decoration of scrolls and leaves of acanthus or figure, in its center, a rosette simulating a sunflower flower. Period: xviiith century. Dimensions: height: 86.5cm X width: 46.5cm X depth: 7.5cm. The artists and craftsmen of the louis XVI style were able to draw inspiration from greco-roman art and nature with dexterity and harmony in proportions making the louis XVI style known and appreciated beyond borders. The ornamentations are inspired by antique, nature, exoticism with garlands of flowers, ribbon knots, palmettes, pearls, oves, medallions, cassolette, torus of foliage, acanthus leaves, olive and bay leaves, wicker baskets, sickles, beehives, pastorals, shepherdesses, country scenes, chinoiserie... The carved woods are gilded with gold or painted in a pastel tone rechampi with gold. The louis XVI mirror will become an essential object of the decoration of its time.
