Small Display Cabinet in Mahogany, Louis XVI style – Late 19th Century

This elegant display cabinet is made of solid mahogany and mahogany veneer. It opens at the top with a glass door, allowing an unobstructed view of the displayed items, and at the bottom with two drawers fitted with locks. The entire piece is delicately highlighted by brass inlays that enhance its lines and accentuate its precious character. The front corners are cut at an angle. The bronze decorations are particularly well-crafted: the locks are accompanied by beautifully designed keyholes, and the keys are engraved. The keyholes of the drawers feature cherubs, while the keyhole of the glass door depicts a refined palmette. The interior of the cabinet is lined with burgundy velvet, creating a warm and luxurious setting for the displayed objects. Three adjustable shelves allow for arrangement according to needs. The piece rests on tapered legs that end in leaf-shaped feet, adding a touch of sophistication to the whole. The raised bases reinforce the presence and elegance of the furniture. The back of the piece is labelled "Zollamt Wien." This cabinet embodies timeless elegance and artisanal craftsmanship, offering a sumptuous setting for each displayed item. Customs Label: The emblem features a crowned double-headed eagle, an imperial symbol used by the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The mention "ZOLLAMT WIEN" means "Customs Office of Vienna."
