This flower vase, designed by Josef Hoffmann around 1905 for the Wiener Werkstätte, evokes the shape of a modernist skyscraper. The reissue is produced by Bieffeplast in Italy (1980s), using white enameled perforated metal. The cylindrical structure tapers slightly toward the top, with a hexagonal cross-section; the surface is characterized by a regular grid of small square and rectangular windows. These openings create a "Gitterwerk" (gridwork) effect, typical of the Viennese Secession style. The minimalist, geometric design reflects Hoffmann's modern, rational aesthetic. The raised hexagonal base ensures stability and completes the formal harmony. A few darker windows suggest depth and a play of light and shadow. The vase includes an internal glass insert to hold water and flowers. The object combines decorative functionality with an icon of 20th-century design. The matte white finish and soft lighting enhance its sculptural purity. It is an iconic piece, also known as the "Skyscraper Vase" for its vertical silhouette.
