E018 Elegant pair of fine enamelled earthenware vases from the Gien factory, French work from the early 20th century. Polychrome historicist decoration inspired by Italian and Rouen Renaissance, including: • cherubs in medallions, • mascarons, • leafy scrolls, • trophies and musical attributes, • ornamental friezes. Very beautiful decorative quality characteristic of the ancient artistic productions of Gien intended for bourgeois interiors and collectors' homes. Mark. Black stamp on the reverse: GIEN FRANCE in intertwined monogram. Dimensions. • Height: 27 cm. • Diameter of the neck: 11 cm. • Diameter of the base: 8 cm. • Weight of the pair: approximately 1.4 kg. Condition. Good presentation condition. Note: • a visible chip inside the neck of one vase, • minimal wear and fine enamel crazing due to age. Dating. Circa 1900–1930.
