Pair of plates J.S. and Co. Terre de Fer "Hunt"

Rare pair of "Hunting" plates in fine earthenware with blue printed decoration. France, circa 1880. Set of two antique fine earthenware plates, decorated in blue monochrome with a hunting motif from the J.S. & Cie (Jacques Strauss & Cie) pottery, which was active in Clairefontaine between 1863 and 1891. The centre features hunting scenes depicting dogs chasing game and birds, set within a landscape of branches and vegetation. The rim is highlighted by a continuous frieze of foliage and acorns, forming a regular vegetal frame. Marked with the stamp "J.S.C. – Terre de Fer – Chasse" on the reverse. Diameter: 23.5 cm. Overall good condition, with signs of use and slight marks of time, without cracks or restoration.
