Antique Lobi tribal sculpture depicting a fetish bird in a leaning posture, typical of the animist art of southwest Burkina Faso. Carved from dense, weathered wood, this zoomorphic figure features a head topped with a vertical crest, large protruding eyes, and a body adorned with fine incisions symbolizing wings. The legs take on an anthropomorphic form, reinforcing the symbolic duality of the piece. Lobi fetishes, often placed on family altars, play a mediating role between the living and the spirits. This example bears witness to ancient use, with visible structural cracks and traces of wear that do not affect its stability or readability. The turned base of hardwood, not original but of high quality, enhances the presentation without betraying the spirit of the object. Total height 22 cm, approximately 15 cm excluding the base. Origin: Lobi people, Burkina Faso 20th century (probably first half) Condition: Wear consistent with age, visible cracks, small chip on the left wing. Good stability, complete piece unrestored.
