Large Gien platter with a peony motif. Diameter 46 cm. The front is in perfect condition, with no cracks, chips, or crazing. Only the back has two small chips. The peony motif has been celebrated in Gien porcelain since 1875; the pink peony symbolizes timid feelings, the red one, ardent passions. This piece dates from around 1940.
