English Victorian sewing table with drop leaves, 19th century.
Elegant English work table from the Victorian era, circa 1835-1860 (William IV / early Victoria period), made of walnut or mahogany. The oval top consists of a fixed rectangular central part flanked by two rounded drop-leaves that, when raised, form a complete oval. Beneath the top, a curved-front drawer is fitted with an original brass ring handle, followed by a suspended sewing basket — a typical feature of these tables intended for needlework. The base consists of two turned column legs with spool turning, connected by a horizontally turned stretcher, resting on scroll feet with their original metal casters. The piece exhibits a beautiful old patina with signs of wear on the top and sides, reflecting authentic and prolonged use. The casters and brass handle are period. Dimensions when open: 85 X 46 cm — Height: 66.5 cm — Weight: 8 kg. A functional and decorative accent piece that fits well in both classic interiors and more contemporary decor.
