Pharaoh lamp 7 brass marble at Maison Jansen & Deknudt lighting

Spectacular and magnificent Hollywood Regency table lamp featuring the gilded bust of Tutankhamun, produced by the Belgian lighting company Deknudt in the 1970s and often associated with the creations of the Parisian house Maison Jansen. The pharaoh is cast in gilded brass and set on a black Mazy marble base like a true sculpture on a pedestal. The inspiration comes directly from the famous funerary mask of Tutankhamun: striped headdress, braided beard, protective cobra on the forehead… A concentration of "Egyptomania" that fascinated the entire world after the discovery of the royal tomb in the early 20th century. In this lamp version, the young king no longer illuminates a burial chamber but your living room: the light diffuses from the top of the bust, transforming the statue into a true luminous totem. This particular ambiance is due to a rare and sophisticated lighting system comprising: 3 light points (2 main bulbs + 1 night light) and 1 original switch allowing for the selection of 3 distinct lighting atmospheres. The ecru silk lampshade is original with an uncommon architectural shape reminiscent of certain creations by Roméo Rega. However, it does present two small visible stains at the front and an area of internal wear that reveals a more pronounced transparency at the back when lit, but is not visible if the lamp is placed against a wall. These signs of wear do not detract from its elegance or functionality. These marks are consistent with its age and confirm the authenticity of the whole piece.
