Artist: Bogomil Jivkov. National and international exhibitions (Germany, Japan, United Kingdom…) Title: The Apple. Year: 1991. Technique: Patinated bronze. Edition: 4/6 (signed БЖ, dated 1991) Dimensions: 21 × 18 cm. Weight: 5.4 kg. Condition: Excellent. Provenance: Purchase made in Sofia in 1991 from the Творчески фонд на СБХ (Creative Fund of the Union of Bulgarian Artists). Official document: Export permit no. 532 / 05.05.1994 issued by the National Gallery of Fine Arts, Sofia (mentions the work of Bogomil Jivkov in bronze, 21 × 18 cm). Description: Bronze sculpture depicting two human figures entwined within a stylised apple. The rounded forms and polished surface express tenderness, unity, and sensuality, themes characteristic of Bogomil Jivkov's work in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Analysis: The apple, a biblical symbol of the forbidden fruit, becomes a space of fusion and harmony here. The artist subverts the myth by celebrating the reconciliation of body and spirit. The fleshy volumes, serene faces, and compactness of the model testify to a quest for balance and humanism. Limited edition copy (here 4/6).
