Bring a touch of bucolic and authentic charm to your table with this magnificent large vintage jug (or pitcher). It is the "Sologne" model, produced by the famous French manufacturer Faïence de St Amand. It features a superb speckled beige material that mimics the texture of stoneware, showcasing a painted floral decoration (Norman/rustic style) representing tulips or stylised flower buds in shades of cobalt blue and terracotta orange. Its generous shape is complemented by a wide, comfortable handle with a moulded thumb rest. The underside of the base bears the complete and very clear original stamp: the coat of arms with crossed swords surrounded by the mention "Faïence de St Amand France" and topped with the model name "Sologne". Perfect for serving water, cider, or wine during your family meals. It will also make a stunning vase to hold fresh or dried flower bouquets at the centre of a farmhouse table or on a chic country-style sideboard. Height: 19 cm, Width (with handle): 19 cm, Depth: 13 cm. In very good vintage condition. The interior and exterior glaze is clean and shiny, and the floral decoration is impeccable. The neck and handle have not suffered any damage. Note some original firing irregularities and normal signs of use under the unglazed foot (see photo of the base), which are completely invisible once the jug is placed down.
