Stoneware pitcher from Poterie des Mottes, Saint Amand en Puisaye (Burgundy)

Glazed stoneware jug from the Poterie des Mottes, model 0.5 L, featuring an applied decoration of a stylised butterfly and foliage. It has a rounded silhouette that sits well, highlighted by a short, precise spout. The glaze presents a warm gradient from honey brown to deep blue at the neck, with a slightly satin and luminous surface. Rare butterfly decoration. Stamped Poterie des Mottes, workshop of Puisaye (Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye), active since the early 20th century, part of the tradition of decorative utilitarian stoneware from this major region of French ceramics. In excellent vintage condition, with a bright glaze (see photos). Height 12.5 cm, width from spout to handle 13 cm. Capacity 0.5 L. A warm presence on a table, where the glazed stoneware integrates into a natural and tactile composition.
