A concentration of poetry from ancient Japan. This square bowl with a scalloped edge, in fine porcelain, seduces with its underglaze cobalt blue decoration, both sober and stylized. Dragonflies, flowers or geometric patterns The interpretation remains open, as is often the case in Japanese art, leaving room for contemplation. Probably made in Arita towards the end of the 19th century, this piece illustrates the delicate know-how of Japanese artisans: fine paste, slightly blueish enamel, and free but controlled brushwork. We imagine this bowl on a tea table, or displayed on a sideboard, alone or in series. It can also be used as a refined pocket emptier, a jewelry dish or a small gourmet tea dish. Dimensions: 17 cm X 17 cm Height: 3.5 cm Very good general condition for an old piece. A very slight chip under the rim visible in the photos (without affecting the solidity or the general aesthetic). The enamel has some small original irregularities. A rare piece, both useful and decorative, which will please lovers of soul objects.
