Superb antique writing desk with a drop-down front, dating from the late 19th century or very early 20th century, typical of French provincial furniture. Made of fruitwood (probably cherry or pear), it features a soft and authentic patina acquired over time and use. The drop-down front opens to a carefully compartmentalised interior, originally designed for writing, correspondence, and document storage. The internal cubbies and niches reflect a piece of everyday work furniture that is both functional and elegant. The lower part consists of drawers providing ample additional storage space. The lines are simple, balanced, and free from excessive decoration, allowing this desk to fit seamlessly into both a chic country interior and a more contemporary or bohemian decor.
