Lamp by the Atelier Volumes et Formes model EGV circa 1990

90s design lamp made of resin by the French workshop Volumes et Formes, model EGV. EGV is a design term often referring to Geometric and Visual Teachings (EGV) or the study of elementary volumes and envelope surfaces in technical drawing, 3D design, and geometry. This piece is made of resin and assembled with metals. The lampshade is a moulded resin piece with a white textile veil effect sprinkled with three pink resin beads. The lampshade almost resembles a crumpled sheet of tracing paper held by three pins, as if it has just come out of the lamp shape study in the workshop. The base is an assembly of stacked oval resin beads, with an orange resin foot featuring a crackled effect. The whole could seem like a geometric metaphor of earth to sky. The lampshade like a cloud and its dewdrops, the base like dry earth, connected by a constructed vertical geometric ensemble. In overall good condition, there are two cracks in the resin at the heel, not visible once the piece is placed down. Brand label present. Height 50 cm X 15 cm diameter at the base. Functional, not illustrated as there is no guarantee upon delivery.
