It originates from China, from the late Qing dynasty, where elm was worked using mortise and tenon joints. Low and elongated furniture served in the Chinese home as support and storage along a wall, with closed storage and an open recess visible. Their low profile organised the room without overwhelming it. The body is made of solid elm, with a row of small drawers, ringed doors at the ends, and a central open niche. The joints are mortise and tenon, and the hardware is made of iron. The patina is warm and even, with a honey tone highlighting the visible elm grain and gentle wear on the edges and handles.
