Pair of brutalist oak lounge chairs with rush seats, circa 1935

These two brutalist oak lounge chairs with rush seats were made in the Netherlands around 1935. The robust, fairy-tale design – often called storybook – and the low seat height make them particularly comfortable and full of character. The solid oak has developed a deep, natural patina; as a pair these chairs are a real eye-catcher. Perfect in a wabi sabi or country interior, by the fireplace, in the living room or in a reading corner. Good condition, with a lovely patina and signs of use consistent with age.
