Superb and important incense burner (censer) in bronze from Southern China, dating from the 19th century. This remarkable piece features a rich decor finely chiselled with, on one side, majestic phoenixes evolving in a lush plant and floral environment, while the other side is adorned with an elegant stylised dragon of Oriental inspiration. The oval-shaped body rests on four small feet and is enhanced by two side handles depicting elephant heads, adding character and refinement to the whole. Its design allows for a large number of incense sticks to be placed in sand, but it can also be repurposed as a decorative planter or a prestigious catch-all. The whole is particularly harmonious and showcases beautiful work in casting and chiselling, characteristic of 19th-century Chinese art objects. 📏 Dimensions: • Length: 22.5 cm. • Width: 15 cm. • Height: 13 cm. • Weight: 1.250 kg. 🔎 Condition: Good overall condition considering its age. There are signs of time, use, and an old patina that highlight its authenticity. Please take a good look at the photos, which are an integral part of the description. A magnificent collector's piece that will find its place in a refined interior, an Asian art collection, or among enthusiasts of antique Far Eastern objects.
