Antique Tibetan commode / buffet – sculpted and gilded front. Stunning antique Tibetan commode, purchased in the 1990s from a specialised antique dealer. Traditional craftsmanship, with a richly sculpted front enhanced with gilding. The wood, in the deep red hue typical of antique Tibetan furniture (probably elm or local poplar used in Himalayan craftsmanship), offers a warm and authentic patina. The piece consists of two hinged doors at the front opening to a storage space with an internal shelf, as well as three drawers. The opening by the two doors allows for wide and practical access. Very good overall condition considering its age. Signs of wear consistent with an authentic piece. Both a storage unit and a strong decorative piece, it can be used as a buffet in a living room, an entrance piece, or as a chest of drawers for clothing.
