Maurice, the beveled mirror with carved wooden Art Deco style.
Oval Art Deco mirror, resting on a half-moon support made of carved wood featuring stylized roses, flowers, and foliage, in the style of French furniture from the 1920s-1930s. The wood is carved along its entire length. At the center, two large roses spiraled, reminiscent of the rose drawn in 1908 by illustrator and decorator Paul Iribe, which cabinetmaker Jacques-Émile Ruhlmann later incorporated into his furniture. At both ends, a curled volute holds the glass. Beautiful wood tone. The thick glass is cut with a wide bevel that catches the light. It is simply placed in the support, with the top left open, giving the mirror the appearance of a crescent moon. The silvering of the glass has aged significantly: it is pitted, with more pronounced missing areas in the center and some chips on the edge. The reflection remains clear, slightly veiled in places. Above a bench in an entryway, a console, or a dresser, it adds an old-world charm. Hangs by original wire. Dimensions: W.84 X D.5 X H.54 cm.
