Very beautiful small painting by Edgard d'Hont (1861 - 1941), a Belgian painter associated with the Liège school of landscape, nicknamed the "Master of Chênée". Oil on panel depicting a woodland or forest edge landscape, featuring a large central oak with mossy bark. On the left, a young birch displays touches of leaves in yellow/golden hues, while on the right, other trees show warm autumn colours. A winding forest path runs along the right side of the composition and disappears into the landscape, under a cloudy sky pierced by a bright "clearing". The painting is signed at the bottom left and titled on the back: "the clearing" with a workshop stamp. Beautiful period gilded wooden frame with the framer's label on the back. Dimensions: Height: 24.5 cm. Length: 28 cm. Height (painting): 19 cm. Length (painting): 24 cm. The painting is in excellent condition and will be delivered in appropriate packaging.
