Fine earthenware soup tureen, ironstone, with blue transfer decoration, "Carmen" model from the Sarreguemines factory, work from the late 19th century or early 20th century. Beautiful round shape resting on a small pedestal, with side handles and original lid, the whole adorned with a delicate floral decoration in an elegant and romantic naturalistic style. Maximum width approximately 29cm including handles, diameter approximately 24cm, height approximately 24cm with lid and 14cm without. Very good overall condition, noting a small hairline on the rim of the body and a second longer one near the base of a handle, both discreet and not compromising, some signs of exterior patina consistent with age, a fine and natural crazing of the glaze, as well as slight firing defects particularly at the junction of a handle. Interior showing a slightly browned usage patina with some stains, consistent with age and use. Approximately 1.2kg.
