Pair of Golden Metal Chandeliers with Leaf and Grape Decorations

Each chandelier is organised around a central shaft made of gilded metal, shaped like a tulip bud, from which three light arms radiate in scrolls adorned with cut and repoussé acanthus leaves. Clusters of coloured glass grapes in green, amber, and translucent hues, accompanied by crystal flowers, punctuate the arms and the base, animating the light with delicate reflections. The whole is suspended by a gilded chain ending in a leafy ceiling ornament. This work of gilded sheet metal shaped into foliage, embellished with glass fruits, is typical of Italian workshops from the 1950s, in the grand Florentine tradition of gilded metal, which was then competing in innovation with the Parisian productions of the Baguès and Jansen houses. Condition report: Good overall condition. Original gilding with a warm patina, clusters and glass flowers well present, old fake candles. A charming pair for an entrance, a corridor, or on either side of an alcove.
