Elegant pair of onion pots in fine polychrome earthenware attributed to the Samson factory, Paris, made at the end of the 19th century in the style of the prestigious earthenware from Strasbourg and Eastern France. These charming cache-pots feature a square shape with cut corners resting on four moulded feet. Each side is adorned with delicate hand-painted floral bouquets, framed by geometric reserves and garlands of foliage enhanced with ribbons, in a traditional palette of iron red, green, yellow, and manganese violet. Originally inspired by pots intended to preserve onion bulbs in the 18th century, these models are now highly sought after as decorative elements on a fireplace, console, bookshelf, or dining table. The quality of the glaze, the finesse of the decoration, and their presentation as a pair make them a beautiful decorative set for a classic, chic country, or French interior.
