This adorable ceramic cat-shaped teapot is rather original with the cat's head forming the lid, the front paws forming the spout and the tail acting as a handle. It would be a ceramic made by Cortendorf, a West German factory, it is not stamped or perhaps a tiny intaglio mark. The stamp may have disappeared with the many washes... But it is identical (pink bow, green eyes...) to models either with the brand stamp, or with an ink marking "made in West Germany", or with just a serial number. This teapot would date from the 1940s (the majority of sources mention this period) to the 1960s according to other sources, I could not find more precise and reliable information. Cortendorf production stopped with the takeover of the factory in 1973 by the famous Goebel company, well known for its highly prized ceramic figurines. This teapot is in beautiful condition, no cracks or chips, just a few signs that testify to its age: stains of use under the base and very fine and light cracks on the glaze, which is quite normal for a ceramic of this age. It measures 23 cm in height with the lid, approximately 23 cm in width from the spout to the handle, and approximately 13 cm in width from one side to the other.
