Large screen or "claustra" with five articulated leaves, orientalist art deco style (chinese, japanese...) painted by w. Houben and representing a flight of cranes in a vegetal and floral setting, stream... Composed of five painted paintings (tones of celadon, turquoise, gilding) on oak panels, mounted on brass hinges with two directions of opening. Oil on panel signed lower right w. Houben (see photo) dating from the 1950s, unique work. Very stable and in perfect condition. Typical of asian art decorations (japanese and chinese) in the 18th and 19th century. These decorations were then taken up in europe around 1900 and treated in chinese lacquer (with gold and silver leaf) by great names of art deco, including the french artist jean dunand. This theme was then reinterpreted in the 1950s to 1970s with the arrival of the "chinese modern" style coming straight from the united states, so we place this screen in this period.
