solid oak commercial counter, France, circa 1920. A piece of professional furniture: grocery, haberdashery, fabric trade, designed for intensive use and a prominent presence in a retail space. The construction is substantial, uncompromising: thick oak, robust joinery, full moulded base. The top, made of three wide boards, bears a deep patina of use: stains, signs of work, marks of time, which testify to a long life of service without compromising its solidity. The front is organised into six drawers across three rows, arranged in two symmetrical columns. The cast metal handles with a floral design are original, differing between drawers (a common detail in this type of commercial furniture), replaced over time as needed. The side and back faces are dressed with moulded panels featuring rounded rectangular frames, carefully finished on all sides, as the counter was visible from all angles. A satin varnish finish has been applied throughout. The weight of approximately 120 kg gives an indication of the piece. Reference LDP: 20260323-014. Dimensions: L160 × D85 × H85 cm - approximately 120 kg.
