The Lachenal candy dish. Raoul Lachenal French ceramist (1885-1956) Through Caroll Stupen, he marketed a series of magnificent pieces with Egyptian blue glazes in New York. In ancient Egypt, blue was called "Kesebej" and symbolized the sky, water, and the Nile, and was the color of life. Raoul Lachenal, one of the sons of Edmond Lachenal, was one of the masters of ceramics at the end of the 19th century, innovating manufacturing processes as well as the creation of shapes and decorations. Auguste Rodin called upon him to sculpt the stoneware heads of La Douleur and the famous Balzac. Pieces signed under the base. Height 12.5 cm. No chips or cracks. Very good condition.
