The chair features the characteristic sprung, slatted seat and backrest construction with curved armrests and a light, flexible frame – a distinctive post‑war design developed as a modern, comfortable seating solution. According to the German Chair Museum, this model corresponds to the Gelenka type 117, manufactured in the 1950s in Leipzig (Emil Plarre) and later in Wolfhagen near Kassel. On this example the original maker’s decal on the rear seat rail is no longer present, but the construction and proportions match the original catalogue drawings. Dimensions: H 77.5 X W 58 X D 60 cm.
