Overview. Set of two Bauhaus / Mid‑Century armchairs by Gelenka, Germany, circa 1950. Distinctive continuous curved beech armrests forming an open, airy frame. Designer & Maker. Attributed to Ernst Breitenborn and/or Erich Dieckmann for Gelenka. Manufacturer: Gelenka-Patentmöbelfabrik, Wolfhagen. Materials. Solid beech wood frame with metal fittings in the structure. Seat constructed with elastic straps and small wooden components (original construction detail). Dimensions. Height: approx. 81.5 cm; Width: approx. 60 cm; Depth: approx. 70 cm. Seat height: approx. 42 cm; Seat depth: approx. 43.5 cm; Seat width: approx. 45 cm. Provenance & Notes. German manufacture, production period 1940s–1950s. One chair per pair bears an attribution mark; two pairs of this model exist with curved armrests (four chairs in total) according to the seller.
