Splendid slip/majolica vase from the Art Nouveau period dating from the 1890s. This one has two handles and is decorated with a magnificent pink peony on both sides of the vase. Polychrome earthenware with beige, brown, green, and pink glazes. The vase is stamped with the signature of the Lille-Five's earthenware factory and is numbered under the base. Some information about the Lille-Five's earthenware factory: it is well known to ceramic collectors and Art Nouveau aficionados. It was founded by Gustave de Bruyn, a Belgian born in Louvain in 1838 into a family of potters. Gustave de Bruyn settled in Lille in 1862. It was only two years later that the factory moved to the Fives district. In 1889, the company was awarded a silver medal at the Paris World's Fair. Dimensions: Height 30 cm. Width 21 cm.
