An ancient carved wooden pediment representing a head of an angel or cherub with widely spread wings. Entirely hand-carved, it retains beautiful traces of gouge and an old dark brown patina that highlights the volumes of the face, hair, and wings. Probably originating from a liturgical piece of furniture, panelling, or church decoration, this element features a flat back indicating that it was originally applied to a support. An old work, likely from the 18th-19th century, in the spirit of popular religious art of the baroque tradition. In good antique condition, with some wear, irregularities, and wood splits related to age, visible in the photos. Angels and cherubs are traditionally associated with the protection and happiness of the home. Dimensions: 46 × 14 × 6 cm. Weight: 450 g.
