Cylindrical ceramic vase designed by Gertrud Lönegren for S: t Erik, Uppsala, Sweden, circa 1932–36. Decorated in relief with a sequence of stylised female figures, enhanced by striking turquoise and brown-black glazing. The variations in the glaze accentuate the modelling and give each side of the vase a different character. A particularly expressive example of Swedish ceramics from the interwar period, straddling Art Deco and emerging Scandinavian modernism. Marked underneath S: t Erik / Upsala / Sweden / S35. An old attribution label identifying Gertrud Lönegren and dating the piece to 1932–36.
