Stoneware vase Chantal & Robert Thierry 1970s

Glazed stoneware vase by Chantal and Robert Thierry, with an elongated baluster shape, a constricted neck, and a wide flared opening. The decor, simple and mineral, combines a slightly satin off-white glaze with a spectacular flow of brown-black and olive glaze, evoking a landscape or abstract calligraphy. The surface is animated by fine horizontal striations left by the turning process, which enhance the artisanal character of the piece. The base reveals the natural unglazed stoneware, highlighting the quality of the firing. The whole offers a beautiful balance between the purity of the lines and the spontaneity of the decor, in the spirit of French ceramics from the 1960s-1970s. Height 33 cm.
